2026 B2B Cold Email Benchmarks: Reply Rates by Industry
From SaaS to professional services — actual reply rates, open rates, and meeting-conversion numbers from 47 client campaigns we ran across six verticals in 2026.
Methodology
Numbers below come from 47 LeadFindy-managed campaigns Q1 2026, totalling 312,440 cold sends. All campaigns ran the same engineering stack — multi-domain warmup, 3-source verified lists, plain-text 4-step copy framework. Differences in result come from vertical, ICP, and offer — not infrastructure.
"Reply" = any human response, including objections and out-of-offices excluded.
Overall 2026 benchmarks
Open rate is missing on purpose — we turned tracking pixels off across all campaigns mid-2025 because they cost more in deliverability than they returned in signal. Reply rate is the real KPI.
Reply rates by vertical
| Vertical | Avg reply | Range | Meeting rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| B2B SaaS (mid-market) | 8.6% | 5.1% — 13.4% | 2.4% |
| Agencies (marketing/dev) | 9.2% | 6.0% — 15.1% | 2.7% |
| IT services / MSPs | 5.4% | 3.2% — 8.7% | 1.6% |
| Professional services | 6.1% | 3.9% — 10.0% | 1.9% |
| Recruitment / staffing | 11.3% | 7.4% — 16.8% | 3.4% |
| Consulting (boutique) | 6.8% | 4.0% — 11.2% | 2.0% |
Why the variance is bigger than the averages
The range column is more useful than the average. A 3.2%–13.4% spread inside a single vertical means execution explains most of the difference, not the vertical itself.
The campaigns at the top of each range share four traits:
- Tight ICP — never more than 8K total addressable contacts
- Trigger-driven sending — cohorts triggered by hiring posts, funding, or product news
- Specific proof point — "we did X for company Y" beats generic value props by 2–3x
- Single ask — one CTA, never three
"If your reply rate is at the bottom of your vertical's range, the issue almost certainly isn't the channel — it's targeting or copy."
Takeaway
2026 cold email reply rates sit in the 5–12% band across most B2B verticals when run with proper infrastructure. Anything above 12% means strong execution; anything below 4% means a fixable problem in targeting, deliverability, or copy.
